The joys of winter

in the Schladming-Dachstein Region
Black Rose downhill for professionals

On the slopes of the pros

The Reiteralm is the training mountain of the world's skiing elite - with a bit of luck, you can watch the pros fine-tuning their technique. For maximum fun, the Reiteralm offers award-winning quality slopes, a cross park, a race track for your personal race video and the "Black Quartet" with really steep downhill runs. Families are also in good hands in the spacious and well-situated Kinderland - here you can play and learn to ski at the same time.

Ideal for pleasure skiers: the Fageralm with its wonderful, gently undulating natural snow slopes. This is an enchanting skiing experience with dream views, fun activities for children and families, such as an Indian trail, boardercross course, timed runs or giant goliath swing ..... The entry point is in the neighbouring village of Forstau, only about 5 minutes by car from Hotel Brunner.

the Reiteralm in winter

Skiing

Our location makes every skier's heart beat faster ... we are only about 170 metres away from the famous "Grande Finale" piste of the Reiteralm and the valley station of the "Silver Jet" gondola lift. The entrance to the 4-mountain ski circuit with its fantastic pistes on the Reiteralm, Hochwurzen, Planai and Hauser Kaibling is on the "hotel doorstep".

And one thing we say with conviction: Skiing in our Schladming-Dachstein region is simply wonderful! There are sensationally exquisite ski slopes for winter sports enthusiasts of all levels, cosy ski huts with soothing hospitality, state-of-the-art gondolas and lifts to discover. In addition, you can choose from highly professional ski schools and well-stocked ski rental and ski service stations.

Night tobogganing on Hochwurzen

Tobogganing

When you speed down the mountain on your toboggan, it's real fun - for young and old. A great toboggan run awaits you on the Hochwurzen. 7 kilometres of fun from the summit to the entrance of the modern panorama gondola - and up you go again. You can hire toboggans directly on site. The Hochwurzen is also widely known for its night tobogganing on the continuously illuminated toboggan run. Traditionally, you then warm up in one of the rustic huts, where enjoyment and conviviality meet.

Ski tour off the slopes

Ski touring

Skiing off-piste is a natural pleasure at the highest level. Even the ascent amidst a deep-snow alpine landscape is unique and unforgettably beautiful. Alpine views and summit experiences await you. Since the descents in the open terrain absolutely require great skill and experience, touring skiing is reserved exclusively for experienced skiers. It is also ideal to be accompanied by a ski guide who knows the local conditions and will take you to the most beautiful places.

Ski tour along the piste

Slope walking

Ski touring has become a real trend: Here you go up the mountain on your touring skis along designated routes and can ski down again safely and comfortably on the pistes. We recommend a tour to the Hochwurzen (a bit more challenging) or to the Ramsau Rittisberg for pleasure piste walkers. This tour is easy to manage and offers a top-class view at the summit! You can rent the appropriate equipment with touring skis, skins, boots ... at the local sports shops.

Winter hiking in the Untertal

Winter hiking

Whoever thinks that the hiking season is limited to summer - has never felt the feeling of happiness that comes with walking in winter nature. White blankets of snow, crunching underfoot, a glitter like millions of precious stones, imposing ice formations ... And then there is the fresh air - crystal clear, it also lets your mind wander. You can choose from a variety of designated winter hiking trails at different altitudes, for example on the Reiteralm, in Untertal or on the sunny plateau Ramsau am Dachstein.

Cross-country skiing in Ramsau

Cross-country skiing

With its gentle motion, cross-country skiing is an ideal sport to keep fit in a gentle way and is loved by active and pleasure sports enthusiasts alike. When the cross-country trails also lead along in such magnificent surroundings as on the Ramsau sunny plateau at the foot of the Dachstein massif or in the Untertal valley, body and soul are pampered in equal measure. Ramsau is the Eldorado of Nordic sports and even the world's elite train here regularly on the more than 200 kilometres of tracked trails for classic cross-country skiing and skating.

Horse-drawn sleigh ride

Horse-drawn sleigh

The little bells can be heard from far away and it is impressive how the strong horses pull the sleigh smoothly through the winter landscape. A horse-drawn sleigh ride is an absolute must for romantics and an unforgettable experience for all those who want to experience the snow-covered nature - wrapped up warmly. Ramsau am Dachstein is famous for its horses and there is hardly a farm that does not have a Haflinger or Noriker. A horse-drawn sleigh ride in Untertal is not an everyday pleasure.

Children's paradise Reiteralm

Kids fun in winter

Winter is a great time for children. On the Reiteralm at the exit of the Silver Jet, a super paradise opens up for the kids and skiing becomes an unforgettably great experience here. Our local ski schools offer numerous courses especially for the little ones. In the meantime, mum and dad can take a few turns themselves on the great slopes of the Reiteralm ... The Fageralm in Forstau is also a paradise for families - themed trails and enjoyment offers will delight young & old!
